General Conference in Reykjavik and other news

Dear members,

The deadline for applications for sections for the 2011 General Conference in Reykjavik is approaching (15 April). The steering committee has decided to initiate a general section proposal which should cover many research interests among members of the standing group. This proposal is called “Old and New Models in Electoral Research”. You can find the text at:

We have got a section proposal from Oliver Treib, Catherine de Vries and Andreas Wimmel on “Mass Politics in the EU: Public Opinion, Elections, and Referendums”. The steering group has decided to support this section proposal. You can find the text of this section proposal at:

As you can see from the section proposals, some panel proposals are already indicated. With regard to the proposal on “Mass politics in the EU”, this proposal already comprises six pre-organised panels, and the maximum number of panels that is allowed is 8. Only two more panels can then be included in this section.

Panel proposals can be put forward at later stage when the section proposals (hopefully) are accepted, but if you already have some ideas about a panel that might fit into the sections and that you would like to chair, you might contact the section chairs already at this stage.
